“Storm Chasers”
After a major wind or hail storm you will find “Storm Chasers” — here is how they work:
They quickly come into town and buy a small established company that has been incorporated for several years. They immediately start a large advertising campaign, mostly door to door and with flyers to “pretend” to be local. They are very skilled in presenting an image of being local, but can live hundreds of miles away. They will quickly gain local area code phone numbers, have equipment tagged with Ohio plates and in some cases rent a small office to have a brick and mortar presence. The only problem here is that they are gone when the storm is gone! They offer no guarantee or warranty.
